Warrington adopted the famous primrose and blue colours in 1886 and the jersey design changed very little for the majority of the 20th century, alternating between primrose and blue hoops and a white shirt with a primrose and blue band as worn in the 1954 Challenge Cup final replay at Bradford. The 1980’s saw the advent of kit sponsors and the beginnings of replica shirts, and this has led to regular changes of design to encourage sales. Likewise, the ”away shirt” has evolved from being an alternative that could be worn if there was a colour clash to become a leisure or fashion garment, often with little connection to the club colours.
